Day One: Book Spine Poetry hosted by Escape Through the Pages
- Just Listen, My Beautiful Failure.
Between You & Me,
The Truth About Forever isn’t all
it’s Cracked Up to Be.
Every Day Under the Never Sky
the Rules of Attraction Tilt,
This Is Where I Leave You.
I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You…
Before I Fall, remember:
Smart Girls Get What They Want
and Bad Girls Don’t Die.
Day Two: Soundtrack Challenge hosted by Medusa’s Library
I’m horrible at making playlists for books. I wish I were some wiz at it, but honestly… that’ll never happen. I was looking at my bookshelf, though, and realized there are a couple songs that never fail to make me think of books. They are:
Just Listen by Sarah Dessen and Thank You by Led Zeppelin
Annabel’s sister made a mixed cd with this song on it and Annabel and Owen had a conversation about it being the best Zeppelin song ever. I love Led Zeppelin and I love Just Listen. I can’t help thinking about these two together.
Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen and Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right by Bob Dylan
Sarah Dessen and I must have very similar music taste, because she mentioned Bob Dylan very plainly in this book. I love Bob Dylan, so I’ll never forget the use of Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right in this book.
The Diviners by Libba Bray and Love Me or Leave Me by Ruth Etting
I was obsessed with a CD that had Love Me or Leave Me on it while I was reading The Diviners. The song is actually a little later than the book’s time, but still. The association is seared into my brain.
Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane and Cry by Johnnie Ray
Cry was used in the Shutter Island movie adaptation and whether I’m thinking about the movie, the book, or the song… it doesn’t matter. They all mesh together now.
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and Rumble by Link Wray
So I looked over at my bookshelf and saw The Outsiders and felt like Rumble was a little perfect for it. They both have that rough-and-tumble feeling about them. Looove.
I adore all of these songs and a couple of the artists are favorites. Click on the song titles to listen. I tried to make a playlist for you guys, but there was always something missing. Oh, well.
Day Four: Acrostic Poem Challenge hosted by Harley Bear Book Blog
I feel like I’m sort of stretching this one, but oh well. I really wanted to use Chopsticks. P.S. The “O” is like the “only child” in a family… just for clarification.
